It has been provided letter no 8-30/2010 (CPP-I/PU) dated 17 February, 2011by University Grants Commission, which empowers it to award degrees under section 22 of the University Grants Commission act 1956. Babu Banarasi Das Educational Society is an administering body for it. The university has been founded after the name of Babu Banarasi Das Ji, a nationalist. Babu Banarasi Das University is a Private university situated in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The Institute was founded in 2010 by Akhilesh Das. The Institute provides UG, integrated and PG courses in streams like Management, Computer Applications, Engineering, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, Architecture, Dental Science, Applied Sciences, Humanities, Social studies, Legal Studies and Education.
