Named after & Indian freedom fighter Chandra Shekar Azad this university is known for its faculties of Agriculture, Home Science and Agricultural Engineering and Technology. Apart from its basic goal of education and research this university also caters to the needs of the farming community in the 29 districts of the state of Uttar Pradesh. The extensive research efforts coupled with relevant training to farmers and officials in new agricultural technologies give a true social identity to CSAUAT. The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology (CSAUAT) is named after the famous Indian revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad. It is recognized as the premier institution of agricultural research and education in India. It dates back to 1893 when a small school was started to impart training to revenue officers which rose step by step to full-fledged Govt. Agriculture College (1906), U.P. Institute of Agricultural Sciences (1969) and finally to C.S. Azad University of Agriculture & Technology in 1975. The University was created with the merger of its two constituent colleges, the erstwhile Govt. Agriculture College, Kanpur and U.P. College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Mathura.
