Purvanchal University, Jaunpur renamed as Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in the honor of late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of the state, was established on 2nd October 1987 as an affiliating university under U.P. state university act 1973. Continuous qualitative and quantitative growth, excellence in academic and administrative activities, transparent and efficient academic administration have been some of the distinct characteristics on the basis of which the university emerged as one of the leading universities of the country. Started with the 68 affiliated colleges, the university now has widened its spectrum of activities with 367 affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges and students enrollment of nearly three lacs and eighty thousand in 5 Districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The university is located at 10 km from the historic city of Jaunpur on Jaunpur-Shahganj road which divides its 171.5 acres campus into two. Jaunpur is well connected by Train, Road, and Air with rest of the country. The infrastructure development, achievement of academic excellence, quality assurance in the higher education and socio-economic development of this highly backward & rural region of Eastern Uttar Pradesh are some of the priority areas for which the university is putting its best efforts. The beginning of two-year full-time residential MBA course in 1990 was one of the first steps towards making the change in the character of the university from affiliating to affiliating-cum-residential university.

Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU) Undergraduate Admission 2019

VBSPU provides Undergraduate courses in the streams of Engineering & Technology and Medicine. Both B.Tech and B.Pharm courses are offered as a regular and lateral entry.

Admission to the Undergraduate courses at VBSPU is done on the basis of marks obtained at the 12th (10+2) or equivalent level along with marks scored in the UP State Entrance Examination (UPSEE).

The B.Tech regular course is offered with six different specializations and the duration for each of the specialization is of four years each. B.tech course through lateral entry is offered with six different specializations as well, but the duration of these courses remains three years. The total strength of every B.Tech. and B.Pharm. programme is 60 students each.

Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU) Postgraduate Admission 2019

VBSPU also offers numerous PG courses for the graduates seeking further study in the concerned disciplines under various specializations. These courses include MBA, MHRD (Human Resource Development), M.Sc, MCA, MAP(Art Applied Psychology), MJMC (Journalism and Mass Communication), and M.A. under a number of specializations.

The University offers MBA courses under five different specializations and M..Sc. courses under four different specializations.

The duration for MBA, MHRD, M.Sc., MAP, MJMC, M.A. courses is of two years individually and the MCA course goes on for a duration of three years.

In order to get selected for the desired course, a student must have done their graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 45% marks. The eligible students will then need to sit for either PUCAT (an entrance test organized by the University) or UPSEE (UP State Entrance Examination). The preparation of the merit list for different courses is done based on the performance of the students in the qualifying examination and the results obtained by the students at the graduation level examination.
