About U.P.Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU)

The UPRTOU, Allahabad was established under Act No. 10/1999 passed by U.P.Legislature and assented to by the Governer of U.P. on March 24, 1999. The university was named after Bharat Ratna Rajarshi Purusottam Das Tandon Ji, an illustrious son of mother India, who made great sacrifices for the sake of our independence and dedicated himself to the cause of Hindi as a national language. The university has carved for itself a special place among the premier academic institutions of distance mode of higher education. It has witnessed very rapid expansion in various spheres of its activities. Presently the university offers more than 90 programmes with its headquarter located at Allahabad and network of five regional centers, more than 400 study centers across the state of Uttar Pradesh. The university has brought higher education within the reach of a large segment of the urban and rural population. The degrees, diplomas and other programmes offered by the university are dully recognized by the joint committee of UGC, AICTE, and DEC.

Admission procedure for all the courses offered by Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) is done through online mode. Those who wish to apply are required to visit the website and submit an application form.

The minimum eligibility for UG courses is class 12th with not less than 50% marks. Students having a graduate degree in relevant discipline with minimum required marks are eligible to apply for masters courses.

Admission to MBA, MCA, and B.Ed programs are done through National level Entrance Examinations and University organizes Entrance examinations while for rest of the programs, admission is done on the basis of merit in the pre-qualifying examination.

Students seeking admission to MBA program need to appear for CAT, MAT, CMAT exam. While for B.Ed., the university organized its own exam. Shortlisted Students on the basis of their marks are considered for admission.
